FAQs

  • Do we come to you, or do you come to us?

For students living in my area, I usually travel to the student and tutor in their own home.

  • What about online sessions?

About half my students prefer sessions to be given via Zoom.

  • How long are the sessions?

Usually lessons last for 1 hour per subject, but longer sessions are available upon request.

  • How many sessions does the average student need per week?

Most students require one lesson per subject per week, although leading up to exam times the regularity may be increased if necessary.

  • Do you have any professional memberships?

Yes, I am a member of The Tutors' Association and The Royal Statistical Society.

  • Do you have a DBS check?

Yes, I use The Tutors' Association DBS check service.

  • How much do sessions cost?

I charge £45 per hour for in-person tutoring and £40 per hour for online tutoring.

  • Can you teach more than one student at a time?

To fully address the individual needs of the student, one-to-one lessons are recommended, however if students are of the same age and studying for the same exam board, shared lessons could be an option.

  • If more than one subject is required, can we alternate or split lessons?

Splitting a one hour lesson between two subjects can lead to a shallower learning experience, so is not recommended for students who require more than just revision of pre-learnt material. Lesson alternation or two lessons per week is a better option for those who need more support.

  • Do you tutor during holidays?

I am often on family vaccinations during school holidays but sometimes this is possible (especially May half term when exams are on).

  • Do we need to buy any workbooks?

Workbooks are often a useful learning tool and allow lessons to progress more rapidly. During our first contact, I will advise you which workbooks would be useful to purchase.

  • What methods of payment do you accept?

I will provide a monthly invoice so that payment can be made directly into my bank account at the end of each month.
